Dubai Government Workshop was established under the patronage of late His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum in the fifties in order to enhance the performance and maintenance of government assets . The workshop has been tasked with continuing maintenance of vehicles for some dubai government departments and to provide the necessary services.
Later, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai issued law on the establishment of Dubai Government Workshop as a public institution with legal personality and financial autonomy and administrative and legal capacity to direct all actions and behaviors that ensure the achievement of its purposes due to the law Number (1) of 2008 regarding Dubai Government Workshop establishment.
The law mentioned that the corporation may contract with third parties and sue and be sued in that capacity and delegate any other person for this purpose and attached to the Ruler court and be based in Dubai and it may establish branches within and outside the emirate.
DGW aims to provide transport services, insurance and maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment acquired by the dubai government and private car of Sheikhs and may render the same services to the departments and institutions and local bodies of Dubai Government .
